Sting New Mexico 99 Woods recently placed second in the 2011 New Mexico Rush Border Cup held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sting NM 99 opened up the tournament with a solid 1-0 victory over Westside Xtreme on Saturday, April 9th. In their second game of the day, Sting New Mexico showed great heart and determination but ultimately fell 3-1 to El Paso Heat. With one win and one loss on Saturday, Sting NM 99 advanced into the semifinals of the tournament where they faced off against Magic. In a hard fought match from both sides, Sting NM 99 came out on top with a 2-1 win and earned a spot in the Championship game. In a rematch from the group stage, Sting NM 99 went up against El Paso Heat, a team they had previously lost to earlier in the tournament. Unfortunately the Championship game had a similar result, as Sting NM 99 fell to El Paso Heat, 4-0. Even in defeat, Sting NM 99 showed great resiliency and fight all the way to the final whistle and should be very proud of the way they performed throughout the tournament.
Congratulations girls on a great tournament weekend!
